Think as an anthropologist.

Documentary camp 2024

Why we need documentary?

Documentaries on anthropology are essential for several reasons. They provide a visual and narrative exploration of diverse cultures, allowing audiences to engage with the complexities of human societies in a way that text alone cannot achieve. By documenting rituals, traditions, and social structures, these films foster a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and the shared experiences that unite humanity. They also serve as vital educational tools, promoting awareness of anthropological research and its implications for contemporary issues like globalization, migration, and climate change. Furthermore, documentaries can give a voice to marginalized communities, highlighting their stories and perspectives, which are often overlooked in mainstream discourse. Ultimately, they bridge the gap between academic knowledge and public awareness, encouraging empathy and appreciation for the richness of human life.

Instead of producing [works], we care more about [thinking], really going to the front line to think about anthropology, the image, the field, the meaning of self and others.
